Faith Formation Online 

In this strange and difficult time when we cannot attend Mass, it can be hard to know how to keep our faith alive and vibrant.  I hope that I can help you do this as your Director of Religious Education.  I believe that this time of isolation can be an opportunity to develop some good faith practices in our family life.  According to the Second Vatican Council’s Dogmatic Constitution on the Church: “The family is so to speak, the domestic church.” (Lumen Gentium #11) This means that it is in the context of the family that we first learn who God is and to seek His will for us prayerfully. This Flocknote is the first of several weekly Flocknotes that I, Adrian Johnson, will send to give you resources and ideas of things you all can do at home to foster a dynamic domestic church!  Please email me at ajohnson@stannscanyon.org if you need any guidance with the formation of your children.  I hope to hear from many of our wonderful families at St. Ann's!

There will be NO Faith Formation classes until further notice due to the Coronavirus-19 (COVID-19) protocols announced by Bishop Zurek.


St. Ann’s begins registration for religious education classes early in August after all weekend Masses. We always hope to get all registrations in before classes begin in September. There will be notices in the bulletins, and it will be announced after all Masses.

St. Ann’s begins the religious education year on the Sunday after Labor Day. Classes meet every Sunday from approximately 10:20 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. We average 27 classes per year from early September through mid-May.

St. Ann’s provides classes for pre-K through 12th grade and an adult class as well. The four year olds experience many hands-on activities through the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program. Kindergarten through 8th grade studies the sacraments, the Church, the commandments, the beatitudes, the creed, liturgy and worship, morality and prayer.  The high school class explores different topics each semester.

Our second grade class spends the entire year preparing for their first reconciliation and first Holy Communion, which is celebrated in the springtime. 

Children in 3rd to 5th grade, who have not celebrated their first reconciliation and first Holy Communion, will generally be placed in the First Communion class (with their parents' permission) to prepare them to receive the sacrament.  If your child is in 6th grade or above and has not received their first Holy Communion, please contact the Director of Religious Education (DRE).  

St. Ann’s celebrates confirmation according to diocesan policy. Students must be in attendance at the regular Sunday morning classes and participate in the confirmation program.  Please contact the DRE for details.   

We have safe environment training for all of our students early in October every year. Our catechists and other adults who work with young people attend safe environment training as needed to be in compliance with diocesan policy.

We have a baccalaureate Mass in May for our graduating seniors and a reception for them immediately following in the Parish Hall.
